Our Impact
PM Haze champions collective action to stop the environmental destruction that causes haze in our region. Led by a team of dedicated haze-fighters and volunteers from all walks of life contribute their time and expertise to the movement to stop the haze by empowering communities and building climate resilience.
Our impact lies in the strength of our movement and the resilience of the communities we support!
Where We Impact
Transboundary haze is, by definition, a regional problem. As a Singaporean NGO, we recognize the need for regional collaboration and solidarity.
During our early days most of our advocacy work targeted Singaporeans but we have now expanded to work directly with local communities on their peatland restoration and fire prevention projects, starting with Indonesia.

In 2017, PM.Haze started working with the non-government organisation Ekonomi Kreatif Andalan (EKA) in Sungai Tohor to start a peatland restoration programme to revegetate and rewet the land. EKA comprises community grassroots leaders and has been exploring agricultural alternatives to improve villagers’ livelihoods. Since incorporation, EKA has experimented with growing cayenne pepper on peat soil, and keeping bees to produce honey.
Sungai Tohor is a village located on a peat island off the mainland of Sumatra and just 3 hours away from Singapore. Fires in 2014 deeply impacted the public health and livelihoods of the communities. Our joint programme with EKA aims to reduce the risk of fires and haze through the holistic restoration of degraded peatlands, led by the communities themselves.
